What songs would mix well with movie moments?

For a moment of failure/desperation (depending on the context) I'm thinking "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush. For conflict or action sequence, I'm thinking "Crossfire" By Stevie Ray Vaughn....I'm old, so harder for me to come up with more contemporary music, but imo, These are great and evocative songs...Don't know if copyrights will be an issue for you though...
