How do u ask a boy if he likes u w/out asking him directly or askin a friend 2 ask him, r there signs 2 look 4

I really like this guy, he is cute, funny and unlike many boys, he is a gentlemen. He holds doors for girls just when we r walkin' into school and when i went home sick, the next day he brought me a get well card and said "hope you feel better." he is so sweet, WHAT DO I DO? How can i tell if he likes me or not without asking him directly and having a friend ask him?!?!?!?!
